Why are we so often a people without praise on our lips?
I include myself in this category.
God opens a door—and what do I do?
I question it first.
“Did God open the door? Is it safe to go through? What would happen if I went through?”
Now, all of this is highly logical.
Martha—not Mary.
God does tell us to “seek” before we “find”.
But, once we have explored the option and believe it is God’s doing, what do we do then?
We go through the door.
But, there is a pause we need to take. That I need to take.
The Pause to Praise!
Praise God. Thank you Lord! You heard me. You answered my prayer!
Too often we are a people who are too Praise-less!
So, today, let’s look for answers God has given us and praise Him for them.
Praise Him for our spouse!
Praise Him for our parents!
Praise Him for our children and grandchildren!
Praise Him for our health!
Praise Him for opportunities!
The list is endless!
Today, let’s look to our Bible for verses that will inspire us and move us to praise.
Here are a few of my favorites (all verses from the ESV):
My mouth is filled with Your praise, and with Your glory all the day! Psalm 71:8
Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; He gives to all of them their names. Great is the Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond….” Psalm 147: 1-20
A Psalm. Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things! His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him. The Lord has made known His salvation; He has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. Sing praises to the Lord with lyre and the sound of melody!...” Psalm 98: 1-5
The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. Romans 11:36
So, on days when God opens the door, fulfills promises, and “makes a way”—remember, first praise Him.
Each day, praise Him!
Always praise the Lord!
If you don’t have words, turn to the Psalms and speak Scripture back to Him.
Today, let us praise Him!
