Fathers are special people. One of the key roles they play in the lives of their children is to represent the love of our Heavenly Father. They don't have to be perfect--they just have to have their lives centered on God, with the primary goal of raising children who will work hard to bring His love into the world.
I have a very godly father.
He raised us to understand Who God is--to learn to follow His ways.
He did this through setting a strong example of prayer, Bible study, and service.
I can't imagine how difficult it would be to have a father who was faithless--and still be able to find faith. I know this is more than possible, as I have friends who found Christ without having fathers who set an example. But, wow, what a tough road to maneuver!
As I became a parent, and watched my husband fulfill his role as father to three children, my respect for fathers continued to grow.
It requires setting your needs and desires aside for theirs.
I hadn't seen this side of fatherhood as a child. But, as a wife and mother, I saw it daily.
And now, as a grandmother, I see it in my son and my son-in-law.
It's a tough task.
But, beyond measure in richness.
Today, I honor all fathers. I honor your sacrifices. Your tiredness. Your strength.
Thank you for being the blessing you are!
