The Christ Candle--Christmas!

The Christ Candle--Christmas!

e lit the Christ candle tonight to show that Christ is with us now. He is born. He is the Light of the world Who has come to forgive us of all our sins and bring us eternal life!

Tonight, at church, I heard a statement that resonated with me. The pastor said, “Christmas has always been in God’s heart—but for Christmas to be the true gift it was meant to be—it must be received fully by each of us.”

Have you received the full gift of Christmas?

Anti-Christ? Or Pre-Christ?

Anti-Christ? Or Pre-Christ?

I was listening to an interesting discussion on a podcast this week. Amid the discussion, one of the guests stated that Christians often view nonbelievers as under the influence of the anti-Christ. The guest said that perhaps we, instead, should view non-believers as Pre-Christ. In other words, they are on their way to Christ—they just haven’t fully encountered or embraced Him yet.

I love this perspective! Truly, we don’t know who will be drawn in by Christ and will ultimately become a believer. We just don’t know. It is much healthier for us as Christians to view nonbelievers as pre-Christians who will eventually embrace Christ fully than to see them as under the control of the anti-Christ.

Why is this the better perspective?

n 1811, Thomas Jefferson, at age 68 years, wrote the “Canons of Conduct” – 12 rules of living to his granddaughter, Cornelia Jefferson Randolph, his granddaughter. Number 10 on that list has always intrigued me. It reads, “take things by their smooth handle.” What does that mean?

I Know the Answer is Jesus, but...

I Know the Answer is Jesus, but...

I admit, I have a terrible time remembering jokes. I remember stories well—but that is because I can improvise the small details and can usually remember the overriding points. Jokes require that you not only remember the small details, but also that you have to have the right timing.

There is a joke I remember, and every once in a while, it fits the circumstances so perfectly, that I tell it again. That is another thing about jokes: you have to tell them often to remember them and to get the timing right.

So, with that lead up, here is the joke I want to share with you:
